Like it or loath it, the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two, opens in cinemas today. Considering that this is the fifth film in the series I imagine most people are already fairly decided on whether or not they will be watching. However, if you're still on the fence, here's my impressions after attending a midnight showing. If you’ve not been sold on any of the previous installments then this is unlikely to change your mind. The pace is slightly different this time out. It is more of a vampire film now Bella has been changed and you do get an epic battle toward the end but I still can’t see it creating too many new converts. Are all the best bits in the trailer? How faithful does it remain to the book? This is hard to answer without giving major spoilers.

All the events in the book are indeed covered – however the way in which that happens has been altered, in some cases significantly. However, he does only remove his shirt once this time around. No, the film has a PG-13/12A rating for a reason. There are some pretty violent scenes, not least the introduction of the immortal children, which as a parent had me feeling slightly sick at one moment. Teenagers will probably be able to handle everything, but the vampire sex scenes are a little steamier than we’re used to from the franchise. There's much less of now that Edward considers Bella more his equal. However, Bella is now keeping secrets from him regarding their child's safety, and there's the whole Jacob/Renesmee imprinting thing going on too, so it's swings and roundabouts.

Should I stay once the credits roll? The first part of the credits are absolutely worth watching. The reason why will be instantly obvious when they begin. However once that section finishes and the more traditional scrolling credits begin you’re free to leave without missing out.
