I want to start playing WoW and i've looked into some private servers, but i'm not really getting it.

What I mean by that is, how do I start? I've seen private servers where they only have certain expansions, like Wrath of the Lich King or Mists of Pandaria. I want to play the whole thing from level 1-90. However, there does not seem to be a server that supports that. Some servers are only vanilla. Some servers host Cataclysm, etc.

So do I play on one server, and then move onto another server? How exactly does this work. If my description was vague, please tell me and I'll edit. So, if every private server is on a specific expansion, if I go to a server that is on the vanilla, can I then change to a server that has the burning crusade, and keep playing?
